SYNOPSIS

Marisa Canavesi lives in Magliana, she is a domestic worker and combines her precarious jobs with the care of her youngest son. Marisa is a single mother, but she is also part of a dense network of mutual support and social struggles: together with other residents of the neighborhood, she fights for the right to housing and at times takes in pregnant girls rejected by their families. Her daily life is marked by precarity, yet she demonstrates surprising generosity and defies prejudice with great class consciousness and a strong desire for collective emancipation. Her voice guides the viewer through the film in a way that is both direct and compelling, creating a unique portrait of a working class woman. After telling Marisa’s story in the theatrical production Mara Maria Marianna and in the book Ragazza madre, Maricla Boggio, for Structure 5 of RAI Network 2 - dedicated to women’s issues - made what has been described as “the first feminist television film.”
