EWA PARTUM

A key figure of the first generation of Polish conceptual artists emerging in the mid-1960s. Her multidisciplinary practice spans conceptual, feminist and body art, film, photography, installation, visual poetry and mail art. Since 1969 she has used language as a central element, developing works that examine the relationship between text, space and perception. A pioneer of feminist art in Poland, she used her own body to address issues of visibility, autonomy and gender. In 1972 she founded Adres gallery for mail art and experimental practices in Lodz. She has exhibited internationally and lives in Berlin.
