TERESA TYSZKIEWICZ

Born 1953 in Ciechanów, died 2020 in Paris. A painter, sculptor, and creator of photographs and short films. A graduate of the Warsaw University of Technology (1978), she was a co-founder of the “Remont” Filmmakers Association (1980). Rejecting the conceptualism of the avant-garde, she devoted her practice to a sensual exploration of the material dimension of reality. In the 1980s, her interest in experimental film gradually gave way to performative painting. During this period, she developed the formula of “pin paintings”—rhythmic compositions created with pins embedded in the canvas. (Weronika Orłowska)
